This piece is a stippling drawing of two light bulbs with element symbols in the background.  This portrays my design solution for the theme "scientific" because light bulbs represent ideas and various aspects of scientific topics.  The mini lessons leading up to this final piece were very beneficial because they allowed me to practice the value contrast of stippling and not maintain a single value throughout the whole piece.  I showed contrast in my artwork by placing darker and more compact dots in the dark regions of the light bulbs and light, spaced out dots in the lighter regions.  The medium I used was pen.  The technique I decided to use was stippling because not only did I like the overall result with this technique, but I enjoyed the the process of creating this product and the value that corresponds.  Originally, I had the spiral light bulb in this product and the elements surrounding.  Mrs. Rossi said to add more to this product; therefore I added a circular light bulb hanging from the top.  This was definitely a risk for me because getting the circular light bulb to be perfectly rounded and retain a decent size was challenging.  Overall, my experience with this project was very successful because I learned a new technique that I extremely enjoyed (Stippling) and my final product follows the criteria and value that is required.

Clay Tile

This is my Clay Tile.  I chose to sculpt this because of the uniqueness and beauty of this flower.

Printmaking Project

The process I went through to create this project was extremely tedious and long.  Although I like my final product, the process that was used to create it was repetitive.  First we had to search for references that we would use as a guideline.  Then, we sketched our thoughts in our sketchbook that was soon transferred onto the linoleum.  Specifically, carving out the linoleum was difficult because I had to make sure I was very careful in not cutting the drawing of the elephant, but instead cutting ridges around my animal.  This was a challenge for me, but overall I believe that my final product was successful.  Lastly, I picked out the paint color that I wanted and I transferred my painted linoleum onto a colored sheet of construction paper.  In this project, I learned that art requires a great amount of patience and if you use time and effort, you can create a beautiful masterpiece.

Photoshop Frog Tongue

This project was easier than the Angry Pancakes and more fun as well.  I started with attaching the frog to the tongue.  Then, I had to edit the frog to make it look like it was attached to the tongue.  With some featured tools, I was able to blend the color of the tongue to match the frog.  Unfortunately, I ran into some trouble when I used the Clone Stamp Tool and the eraser tool.  The Clone Stamp did not allow me to blend the colors appropriately, therefore, my frog is somwhat invisible and not fully blended with the tongue.  The eraser did not allow me to erase the lower right leg like Mr. Sands showed.  Although I ran into some trouble with this project, I enjoyed this Photoshop Lesson the nest.

Photoshop Angry Pancakes

This project was both enjoyable and easy to do.  I follwed Mr. Sands steps that he made very clear in order to complete this project.  First, I edited the pancakes the way I wanted to fit the mouth of the fish.  Next, I cut around the fish to allow the mouth to fit into the pancakes precisely.  After moving the mouth towards the center of the pancakes I edited the mouth to look relatable of the pancakes.  I smudged the edges of the mouth so it would gradually fade into the pancakes by using a sepcific photoshop tool.  In order to do this, I brightened up the color of the mouth to fit better with the pancakes.  I thought this project was funny and enjoyable.  Also, although it may seem that this process did not involve many steps, it really did.  However, these steps were not hard to complete.

I truly enjoyed this project because it allowed me to create a unique art piece with the use of various colors. In addition, I am able to compare this new piece with the original and observe a great piece of artwork that can be formed with a little bit of creativity and a lot of effort. The hardest part of this project was the cutting out the different stencils. This took the greatest amount of time and involved a steady hand with a lot of patience. This project involved many steps and took an ample amount of time. I believe that the final product turned out exquisite and creative. Both, the original and new piece are similar in shapes and patterns, but different in appearance. The new piece obtains various colors and a contrasting texture. The brightness is very prominent, allowing this creative work to catch the eye of any observer. While creating this project, I learned the basics of spray painting, which I then used to create a magnificent piece of art that reflected well, compared to the original. I believe I used the tactics of spray painting, in addition to my creativity, to form a great final product.
